Privacy policy

What we collect

To prepare and lodge a tax return we collect your name, contact details, date of birth, tax file number, identity document details, income and deduction information, and the bank account you want your refund paid into. If you use the refund calculator we collect only the figures you enter, plus your name and email if you choose to give them.

Why we collect it

We collect this information for one purpose: to prepare, review and lodge your tax return with the Australian Taxation Office, and to contact you about it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Marketing emails

We only add you to our newsletter if you tick the opt-in box yourself. It is never pre-ticked. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing has no effect on your tax return or your account.

How it is stored and secured

Your information is held in an access-controlled database, encrypted in transit and at rest. Every client login is confirmed with a six digit code emailed to your account. When you submit your return, your full return details, including your tax file number, bank account and identity document details, are emailed to our customer care team so we can prepare and lodge your return. Access to that inbox is restricted to Ezytaxback staff. Sensitive values are never placed in website addresses or system logs.

Who we share it with

We disclose your information to the ATO as your tax agent, and to the service providers who host our systems, send our emails and process payments under contract. We do not disclose it to anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Tax records must be retained for five years after lodgement under Australian law. After that period we delete or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can view and correct your details at any time in your account settings, and you can ask us for a copy of everything we hold or to delete data we are not required to keep. Email customercare@ezytaxback.com and we will respond within 30 days.
